AmFund Celebrates National Nonprofit Day by Announcing New Grant Opportunities Beginning August 24th

MEDIA ALERT - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MAITLAND, Fla. (August 17, 2021) – The American Fundraising Foundation (AmFund) announced it will begin accepting applications for its Golden Pear Grants beginning Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. ET When awarded, these grants will provide unrestricted funds to help support nonprofit organizations throughout the United States. Organizations can complete and submit a simple application online at https://www.amfund.org/giving. This is the first step to qualify for a Golden Pear Grant or for other funding opportunities provided by AmFund. Submission deadline is 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. “It is our honor to support nonprofits by helping them fund their cause. What better day to make this announcement than on National Nonprofit Recognition Day,” said Deborah Marshall, COO of the American Fundraising Foundation. “As a 501(c)3 ourselves, we understand firsthand the challenges faced by the nonprofits in fulfilling their missions.” The Golden Pear Grants were first introduced last year as the COVID pandemic adversely impacted organizations’ ability to host fundraising events. AmFund donated more than $100K to worthy organizations through this special grant program and distributed nearly $1 million through other fundraising opportunities offered to its nonprofit partners. “Although 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years for everyone,” Marshall said, “it allowed us early on to dive deeper in our support of nonprofits. We were able to expand the number of organizations we support financially, deliver relevant educational programs by teaching organizations how to pivot to a virtual event and how to successfully host a hybrid event. We also created a secure virtual fundraising platform for qualified organizations to use at no cost for their events.” Founders Wade and Barbara West knew from AmFund’s inception that without the nonprofits doing what they do best - seniors, children, and veterans would not receive lifesaving medical care, injured and abandoned animals would roam the streets, food banks would not feed the hungry and other intolerable problems would remain unsolved. The American Fundraising Foundation, a GuideStar Platinum rated 501(c)3 nonprofit, has donated nearly 40 million dollars to other service-providing nonprofits over the course of the past 22 years and now supports 500 organizations each year. AmFund is recognized with the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency and since 1999 has donated nearly $40 million for worthy causes. Its signature silent auctions featuring once-in-a-lifetime experiences are presented at organizations’ special events, whether in person, virtual or hybrid events, drawing admiration, praise and excitement as the entire process elevates the event in the eyes of patrons, board members and the community. Leveraging more than two decades of fundraising experience, AmFund also provides expert educational support and training on a wide variety of topics and offers subject matter expertise through its Speaker’s Bureau for groups ranging in size from 12 to 500. Additionally, AmFund annually distributes unrestricted grants known as their Golden Pear Awards, to select organizations. The Golden Pear, prominently part of AmFund’s logo, is deeply rooted in history as well as in its mission. Throughout history, even before the written word, the pear has been honored as a sacred fruit signifying wisdom, prosperity, good health, longevity, and future happiness – all the things Amfund seeks for its nonprofit partners.
